Is it true that the record for BA futility based on 400 bats or more is somewhere in the .190's?

    Travis is down to .211.

Why doesn't Travis just get the surgery he needs now and "comeback" in the year 2004?

I'm still a Fryman fan. True he's challenging the Mendoza line, but with a healthy shoulder and arm he'd would have made a difference in the middle of the lineup. I still believe today, even with the injury he's defensively the best 3rd baseman in the AL. What a crappy way to go out.

Unfortunately, Travis went through 12 million of Dolan's money the last two years, injured, and has now heroically told the tribe he won't take his 625,000 dollar buyout for next year.

I just can't comprehend the mind of a bull.
Travis could have had surgery last year, been ready to go for the year 2003, and saved Dolan 75% of his salary. Instead, Travis will put up the WORST offensive seasons for two years in a row.

I wonder how often that has been done before. Usually, one bad year and the next year you don't play out the season without some level of improvement.

If Fryman had gone for Tommy John surgery halfway through 2001 everyone would win:
    - Fryman would have got paid for both 2001/2
    - A fit Fryman would have a chance of getting onto a club in 2003. Almost certain with his defensive prowess.
    - Insurance would have saved the Indians at least $6m.

Fryman hanging on the way he did just means everyone loses.

    Well said UK.

Maybe Travis could do one of those "priceless commercials" for American Express.

An All Star year in 2000.
Two injury plagued years, 2001 & 2002, 12 million dollars.
Worst offensive output, 2001, 2002, for all 3rd baseman.
Blocking the development of a rookie player with potential.
Turning down a 625,000 buyout for next year and getting accolades in the process...

    Priceless.

Oh, let me add on more line to the previous commericial...

"Padding my stats late in September..."

    Priceless.
